Do Germany passport holders need a visa to visit PG?
German ordinary passport holders need a visa for Papua New Guinea, but can obtain it online as an eVisa (Easy Visitor Permit) before travel. It costs USD 50, is single-entry, and allows a stay of up to 60 days for tourism. A Germany (DE) ordinary passport holder cannot enter Papua New Guinea (PG) visa-free for tourism, and visa-on-arrival is not available to Germans. Instead, Germany is on the list of nationalities eligible to apply online for the Papua New Guinea eVisa, specifically the Easy Visitor Permit (EVP), issued by the PNG Immigration and Citizenship Authority (ICA). The EVP is a single-entry permit allowing a tourist stay of up to 60 days, costs USD 50 (payable online), and cannot be extended or used for paid work. Applicants must hold a passport valid for at least six months from the date of arrival with a blank page for the entry stamp, supply a passport bio-page copy, an active email and a payment card. Approval is delivered by email and printed for presentation on arrival. PNG is not part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. As of 2026-05-30 the eVisa channel remains the standard route for German tourists; travelers should apply only through the official ICA eVisa portal and well ahead of departure.
