Do Germany passport holders need a visa to visit KG?
German ordinary passport holders can enter Kyrgyzstan visa-free for tourism. Following Resolution No. 855 (effective 31 December 2025), the visa-free stay is capped at 30 days within any 60-day period for EU nationals including Germany. A holder of an ordinary German (Bundesrepublik Deutschland) passport does not need a visa for a short tourist visit to Kyrgyzstan. Germany is on Kyrgyzstan's visa-exempt list and no visa, e-visa, or visa-on-arrival is required for the permitted period. Important recent change: under Kyrgyz Government Resolution No. 855, in force from 31 December 2025, the visa-free allowance for citizens of 55 countries (Germany and all EU states included) was reduced from the former 60 days to a maximum cumulative 30 calendar days within any 60-day period, counted from the date of entry. No prior online registration is required for this short stay. Travelers who wish to stay longer than 30 days must apply for an e-visa through the official portal evisa.e-gov.kg (30- or 60-day tourist categories) before traveling, or obtain a residence document. Kyrgyzstan is not part of the Schengen Area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply here. Entry requires a passport valid at least six months beyond the intended stay with at least two blank pages; proof of onward/return travel and sufficient funds may be requested at the border. Verdict: visa-free for short tourism, with the 30-day cap as the key current limitation.
