No visa required. German ordinary passport holders can enter The Gambia visa-free for tourist stays of up to 90 days under a non-reciprocal visa waiver agreement covering all EU/Schengen states. As of 30 May 2026, holders of an ordinary German passport do NOT need a visa to visit The Gambia for tourism. Under The Gambia's visa policy, nationals of all 27 EU member states (plus the UK and Switzerland) benefit from a non-reciprocal visa waiver and may enter visa-free for up to 90 days, including holders of ordinary passports. No advance application, eVisa, ETA or visa-on-arrival is needed for this nationality. The Gambia is in West Africa and is not part of the Schengen Area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply to this route. Travelers should hold a passport valid for at least six months with at least one to two blank pages, proof of onward/return travel, and visible means of sustenance. One important practical point: every traveler (with limited exemptions) must pay a Securiport airport security fee of D1,000 (equivalent to about USD 20 / EUR 20) on BOTH arrival and departure, payable in cash.
