Do Germany passport holders need a visa to visit AZ?
German passport holders need a visa for Azerbaijan, but can apply quickly online for the official ASAN e-Visa (single entry, up to 30 days). No embassy visit required. Germany is not part of Azerbaijan's visa-free regime, so a German ordinary-passport holder cannot enter for tourism without a visa. The convenient route is Azerbaijan's official electronic visa, the ASAN Visa, applied for at evisa.gov.az. It is a single-entry visa allowing a stay of up to 30 days. The standard fee is USD 25 plus a USD 5 service fee (USD 30 total), processed within 3 working days; an urgent option costs USD 60 plus the USD 5 service fee (USD 65 total) and is processed within 3 hours. The passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond the visa's expiry. Germans may alternatively apply for a sticker visa at the Azerbaijan Embassy/Consulate (single or multiple entry, EUR 35), but for a short tourist trip the e-Visa is faster and recommended. Travelers staying more than 15 days must register with the State Migration Service (hotels usually handle this). Azerbaijan is not in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply.
