Chinese ordinary passport holders can enter Tunisia visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days, provided they carry a confirmed return/onward ticket and paid hotel booking covering the whole trip. Since 7 October 2023, Tunisia has granted unilateral visa-free entry to Chinese ordinary passport holders traveling for tourism. The exemption allows stays of up to 90 days (3 months) per visit and applies to individuals as well as tour groups, whether arriving directly from China or from a third country. No visa, eVisa or visa-on-arrival is required for qualifying tourists. However, this is a conditional waiver: at the border, Tunisian immigration officers verify that the traveler holds a passport valid for at least 6 months, a paid round-trip/onward international flight ticket matching the intended stay, and a confirmed hotel reservation covering the entire itinerary. The Chinese Embassy in Tunisia advises tourists to enter by air and to avoid arriving by land or sea, booking non-standard accommodation, or extending the stay informally, as these can cause entry problems. The waiver is strictly for tourism. Chinese citizens traveling for business, work, study, family visits or any non-tourism purpose must still obtain a visa in advance from a Tunisian embassy or consulate.
