There is no visa-free entry, but the visa is granted to virtually all nationalities, including Chinese citizens. Madagascar does not offer visa-free entry to Chinese passport holders, but it grants a tourist visa to citizens of virtually all countries (except Burundi and Palestine) either on arrival at international airports or online via the official eVisa portal (evisamada-mg.com). The tourist visa is single-entry with a maximum stay of 60 days. Travelers can choose duration tiers of 1-15, 16-30, or 31-60 days, paying the corresponding fee. The eVisa and visa on arrival use the same fee schedule. As of 16 February 2026, the short 1-15 day fee tripled from EUR 10 to EUR 30 (USD 35); longer tiers were unchanged. The eVisa is issued within 72 hours of validation. Passport must be valid at least 6 months with two blank pages. Visa on arrival is convenient at Ivato (Antananarivo) and other international airports, while the eVisa avoids airport queues and provides documentation before departure.
