Chinese ordinary passport holders need a visa to enter Kuwait. China is not on Kuwait's visa-on-arrival or open eVisa list. The simplified Kuwait eVisa is only available to Chinese nationals who hold a valid US, UK, or Schengen visa/residence permit, or GCC residency; everyone else must obtain a visa through a Kuwaiti embassy/consulate or a sponsor in Kuwait. As of 31 May 2026, a Chinese (CN) ordinary passport holder requires a visa to visit Kuwait for tourism. Kuwait does not grant visa-free entry or unconditional visa-on-arrival to Chinese citizens, and China is not among the ~53 nationalities eligible for Kuwait's open eVisa. Kuwait does operate a simplified online eVisa (fee around KWD 3, valid 90 days, stay up to 30 days), but for Chinese nationals it is only accessible to those who hold a valid visa or residence permit from the United States, the Schengen Area, or the United Kingdom, or who hold GCC-country residency. Chinese travelers without such documents must apply for a visa through the Kuwaiti embassy/consulate in China, typically with a local sponsor or hotel/tour arrangement. The passport must be valid at least six months and proof of onward travel is expected. Note the bilateral relationship is asymmetric: from 9 June 2025 to 8 June 2026 China unilaterally waives visas for Kuwaiti ordinary passport holders, but Kuwait has not reciprocated for Chinese nationals. Given the conditional and document-dependent nature of any online channel, the conservative and accurate verdict for a typical Chinese tourist is visa-required.
