A key practical exception exists: nationals of several countries including China can enter Colombia visa-free for up to 90 days if they hold a valid US visa, Schengen visa, or a US/Schengen residence permit, provided the visa/permit is valid for at least 180 days counted from the date of arrival (transit visas do not qualify). For travelers without such a US/Schengen visa, the V visa must be obtained in advance: the application is filed on the Cancilleria online portal, with a USD 50 visa-study fee charged at submission and a USD 82 issuance fee charged after approval, for a typical total around USD 132. Standard tourist stays are up to 90 days, extendable for a further 90 days (maximum 180 days per calendar year). Passports should be valid for at least six months. Because the announced China visa waiver is not yet active and sources caution against social-media misinformation, the conservative and correct verdict for 2026 is visa-required.
