Chinese ordinary passport holders can visit the Bahamas visa-free for up to 30 days under the China-Bahamas mutual visa exemption agreement (in force since 12 February 2014). No visa or eVisa is needed for short tourist stays. The Commonwealth of the Bahamas and the People's Republic of China signed an Agreement on Mutual Exemption of Visas in December 2013, which entered into force on 12 February 2014. The agreement applies to holders of diplomatic, service, public-affairs and ordinary passports of China, allowing a visa-free stay of up to 30 days per entry for tourism and short visits. This remains in effect as of 2026 and is listed in the China Ministry of Foreign Affairs' official register of mutual visa-exemption agreements. The exemption is strictly for short stays and does not permit employment, study or residence. Travelers must still satisfy standard immigration controls at the port of entry: a passport valid for the duration of stay (six months' validity is widely recommended), a confirmed return or onward ticket, and evidence of sufficient funds to support themselves. Stays beyond 30 days require an extension or an appropriate visa obtained from Bahamian immigration. Note that the Bahamas Immigration Department's general visitor page does not always list China among visa-exempt nationalities because the exemption derives from the bilateral treaty rather than the unilateral visa-waiver list; the bilateral agreement is the governing instrument and is confirmed by China's MFA.
