No visa needed. Chinese ordinary passport holders can enter Armenia visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period for tourism, under the China-Armenia mutual visa exemption agreement in force since January 2020. Armenia and China signed a mutual visa exemption agreement for ordinary passport holders on 26 May 2019, which entered into force on 19 January 2020. Under this agreement, holders of valid Chinese ordinary passports may enter, exit, transit, and stay in Armenia without a visa for up to 90 days within any 180-day period, for purposes such as tourism and short visits. No application, fee, or pre-arrival registration is required to use this visa-free channel; travelers simply present a valid passport at the border. The passport should be valid for the duration of stay (six months' validity beyond the trip is strongly recommended as best practice). Border officers may ask for proof of onward/return travel and sufficient funds, and they retain discretion to refuse entry. The visa-free entry is for short stays only and does not authorize paid work, study, or long-term residence. Travelers who wish to stay longer than 90 days, or who need a different status, can apply for Armenia's eVisa (issued for 21 or 120 days) or a longer-stay/residence permit. As of 30 May 2026 this arrangement remains current, making "visa-free" the correct verdict for a short tourist trip.
