Canadian passport holders need a visa for Zimbabwe, but it is easy to obtain. Canada is a Category B nationality, so a single-entry tourist visa is issued on arrival at any Zimbabwean port of entry for USD 75, or it can be obtained in advance through the official eVisa portal. Zimbabwe requires a visa from Canadian citizens, but classifies Canada as a "Category B" nationality, meaning a tourist visa is available on arrival at airports and land borders. Since 1 November 2019, the Zimbabwe Embassy in Ottawa no longer processes ordinary tourist visa applications, and instead directs Canadians to obtain the visa at the port of entry or via the official eVisa system at evisa.gov.zw. Importantly, Canadian passport holders are limited to a SINGLE-ENTRY visa only (no double-entry or KAZA UNIVISA), and they pay a special rate of USD 75 (higher than the USD 30 standard Category B rate). The visa permits a stay of up to 30 days, extendable twice at a Department of Immigration office for a total of up to 90 days. Passports must be valid at least 6 months beyond departure with at least 2 blank pages. Travelers planning a cross-border excursion to Zambia or Botswana (e.g., Victoria Falls) should note they must buy a second single-entry visa to re-enter Zimbabwe, as the KAZA UNIVISA is not available to Canadians. The eVisa is recommended for travelers who want certainty before flying; visa-on-arrival remains valid and straightforward for those arriving at major entry points.
