Do Canada passport holders need a visa to visit UG?
Canadian passport holders need a visa for Uganda and should obtain a Tourist eVisa online through the official Uganda e-immigration portal before travel. Visa-on-arrival technically exists but is discouraged, and some travelers without an eVisa have been denied entry. A Canadian (ordinary passport) traveler to Uganda for tourism is not visa-free. The correct route is the Uganda Tourist eVisa, applied for online at the official portal (visas.immigration.go.ug) before departure. The single-entry tourist eVisa costs USD 50, allows a stay of up to 45 days, and is typically approved within a few business days. While Uganda's rules nominally permit visa-on-arrival, the Government of Canada and Uganda immigration both advise applying online first, and travelers arriving without an approved eVisa/Travel Authorization have been refused entry. A yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory for all arrivals, and the passport must be valid at least 6 months beyond the planned departure. Travelers also visiting Kenya and/or Rwanda may instead choose the East Africa Tourist Visa (USD 100, multiple entry, 90 days). Beware of unofficial sites charging inflated processing fees; only the .immigration.go.ug portal is official.
