Travelers simply arrive at the port of entry (typically Blaise Diagne International Airport, Dakar) with a passport valid for at least six months beyond arrival, an onward/return ticket, and proof of accommodation; an entry stamp is granted free of charge. A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required if arriving from or transiting (more than 12 hours) a country with yellow fever transmission risk, and is recommended for all travelers. The major caveat: on 30 July 2025 Senegal's Council of Ministers adopted a plan for a mandatory reciprocal electronic visa (e-Visa) for nationals of non-African countries that charge Senegalese citizens for visas — explicitly naming Canada, the U.S., France, the U.K. and China. As of mid-2026 this scheme remains announced but not operationally enforced at the border, with no confirmed public portal, fee schedule, or start date. Because the no-visa channel is still confirmed by two government immigration authorities and remains the practical reality, the verdict is visa-free, but travelers should re-check official sources shortly before departure as this could change with little notice.
