Do Canada passport holders need a visa to visit PS?
Palestine does not issue its own visas. Entry to the West Bank (and, in extremely limited cases, Gaza) is controlled by Israel through Israeli-managed ports and crossings. As a Canadian ordinary passport holder, you do not get a separate Palestinian visa, but you DO need an approved Israel ETA-IL (electronic travel authorization), mandatory since 1 January 2025, before you board. The ETA-IL costs NIS 25 (about CAD 9), is valid up to 2 years, and allows tourist stays of up to 90 days. Note: as of 2026 Canada advises against all travel to Israel and Palestine, and access to Gaza is effectively closed. Palestine has no independent visa regime. The Wikipedia visa-policy entry and the Government of Canada both confirm that foreign nationals face only the entry conditions imposed by Israel; the West Bank is controlled by the Government of Israel and Gaza by Hamas. A Canadian tourist therefore enters via Israeli ports (Ben Gurion Airport or the Allenby/King Hussein Bridge land crossing from Jordan) and must satisfy Israeli entry rules. Since 1 January 2025 Israel requires all visa-exempt nationals, including Canadians, to obtain an approved ETA-IL before boarding. The official government fee is NIS 25 (roughly USD 7 / CAD 9); it is valid for up to two years or until passport expiry, permits multiple short visits, and each stay is capped at 90 days. Decisions are usually issued within hours and applicants should apply at least 72 hours before departure. No Israeli passport stamp is issued; a separate entry slip is given. Practically, entry to the West Bank requires passing Israeli checkpoints, and travel via Allenby Bridge may be restricted to Palestinian-Authority-controlled areas. Gaza access is severely restricted: the Erez crossing is closed and the Rafah crossing into Egypt is extremely limited and unpredictable. Because the best-fitting short-stay travel-authorization channel for a Canadian tourist is the Israel ETA-IL, the verdict is "eta". Travelers should be aware that the Government of Canada currently advises avoiding all travel to Israel and Palestine due to the security situation, and consular help is limited.
