Do Canada passport holders need a visa to visit OM?
Canadian passport holders can enter Oman visa-free for tourism for up to 14 days. As of January 1, 2026, Oman added Canada to its list of visa-exempt nationalities. No visa or eVisa is needed for short visits within 14 days, provided you can show a return ticket, hotel booking, travel/health insurance, and proof of sufficient funds. Effective 1 January 2026, Oman's Ministry of Tourism added Canada to its visa-free list, expanding the program to 107 nationalities. Canadian ordinary passport holders may now visit Oman for tourism or short business meetings for up to 14 days without obtaining any visa in advance. This stay cannot be extended or converted to a residence visa. At the border, travelers should be ready to present a passport valid for at least six months, a confirmed return/onward ticket, a hotel reservation, valid health/travel insurance, and evidence of sufficient funds. Travelers planning to stay longer than 14 days (up to 30 days or one year) must instead obtain a Royal Oman Police (ROP) eVisa before travel, which carries a fee in Omani Rial. A notable entry caveat: Canadians have occasionally been refused entry where passports show an Israeli visa or border stamp, or an Egyptian/Jordanian stamp from a crossing bordering Israel. Sources confirming the visa-free status include Oman's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Wikipedia visa policy page, and the Government of Canada travel advisory.
