North Macedonia is not part of the Schengen Area or the EU (it is an EU candidate country), so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do NOT apply to it; its 90/180 day count is separate and specific to North Macedonia. Passports should be valid for the duration of the stay (Canada's official guidance advises at least 3 months beyond your planned departure date). Travelers must register their presence with local authorities within 24 hours of arrival, which hotels and licensed accommodations normally handle automatically. A separate temporary 2026 measure lets non-Canadian-passport holders who carry a valid multiple-entry Canadian visa enter for up to 15 days, but this does not affect Canadian passport holders, who enjoy the full 90-day visa-free entitlement. To stay beyond 90 days, you must obtain the appropriate visa or residence permit before exceeding the limit; overstaying can lead to heavy fines or denied re-entry.
