Do Canada passport holders need a visa to visit LT?
No visa needed. Canadian ordinary passport holders can enter Lithuania visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the Schengen area for tourism. ETIAS pre-travel authorization is not yet required as of 31 May 2026, but is expected to launch in Q4 2026. Lithuania is a member of the Schengen Area, so Canadian citizens holding an ordinary passport do not need a visa for short tourist or business visits. The allowance is up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period, and this limit is cumulative across ALL Schengen countries (not 90 days per country). The Canadian government (Travel.gc.ca) confirms "Tourist visa: not required for stays up to 90 days." Your passport must be valid for at least three months beyond your intended departure date from the Schengen area, and it should have been issued within the previous 10 years. As of 31 May 2026, no electronic pre-authorization is mandatory. However, two EU systems affect this route: the Entry/Exit System (EES), a biometric border-registration system that began rolling out in October 2025 / April 2026 (recording fingerprints and a facial image instead of passport stamps), and ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System), a EUR 20 online travel authorization expected to become operational in the last quarter of 2026 with a subsequent grace period. Once ETIAS is live and enforced, Canadians will need an approved ETIAS before boarding, but it is NOT a visa. Travelers should carry proof of onward/return travel, sufficient funds, and travel insurance, as Schengen border officers may request these.

For guidance only — visa rules change with little notice. Always confirm directly with the destination's embassy or foreign ministry before booking non-refundable travel. Information here applies to ordinary (non-diplomatic) passports unless noted.
