Do Canada passport holders need a visa to visit LR?
Canadian passport holders need a visa for Liberia. Because Liberia has no embassy or consulate in Canada, Canadians can use Liberia's electronic Visa on Arrival (eVOA) portal, applying online before departure and finalizing entry at Roberts International Airport (ROB) in Monrovia. Liberia is not visa-free for Canadians. Since launching its electronic Visa on Arrival (eVOA) on 11 March 2025, the Liberia Immigration Service requires travelers from countries WITHOUT a Liberian embassy to apply online via visaonarrival.lis.gov.lr; travelers from countries WITH a Liberian mission must apply at that embassy instead. Liberia maintains no embassy or consulate in Canada, so Canadians are eligible for the eVOA online process. The application should be submitted at least 7 days before the flight; the authorization is valid for entry within a 3-month window, and an immigration officer grants either a 30- or 90-day stay on arrival depending on purpose. The fee is USD 102.50 (non-refundable), payable by Visa/Mastercard. A passport valid at least 6 months beyond intended departure, a passport photo, and proof of onward travel are required. Yellow fever vaccination (with an International Certificate) is mandatory and routinely checked on arrival in Liberia. Conservatively this is best labeled an eVisa-type process since approval is obtained electronically before boarding, though Liberia officially brands it "eVOA."
