Do Canada passport holders need a visa to visit KG?
Canadian ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for short tourism in Kyrgyzstan. As of January 2026, you can enter visa-free and stay up to 30 days within any 60-day period (reduced from the previous 60-day allowance). No visa or e-visa is required for trips of 30 days or less. Kyrgyzstan grants Canadian citizens unilateral visa-free entry for tourism. Effective January 2026 (Kyrgyz Government Resolution No. 855, confirmed by the MFA on 31 December 2025), the visa-free allowance for Canada and ~54 other countries was shortened from up to 60 days to a maximum of 30 calendar days within any rolling 60-day period, counted from the date of entry. For a typical short tourist visit this means no visa, no e-visa, no fee, and no advance application: you simply present a valid passport at the border. Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond your intended departure. If you intend to stay longer than 30 days you must obtain an e-Visa before arrival via the official portal (evisa.e-gov.kg). Anyone remaining in Kyrgyzstan more than 5 business days should register with the State Registration Service; hotels and guesthouses typically handle this automatically, but failure to register can result in fines and exit delays. The Government of Canada travel advisory (last updated 26 May 2026) confirms the no-visa-for-30-days-within-60 rule. Note that the Kyrgyz MFA website still displayed the older 60-day figure at the time of checking, so travelers should confirm their exact allowance on the official e-visa portal before booking. Verdict: visa-free for short tourist stays.
