Canadian passport holders need an eVisa to enter Equatorial Guinea for tourism. Since 1 July 2023, the eVisa is the standard channel for short visits and must be obtained online before travel. Canada is not on the small visa-exempt list. As of 2026, ordinary Canadian passport holders require a visa to visit Equatorial Guinea for tourism, and the standard route is the official electronic visa (eVisa) introduced on 1 July 2023. Applications are made online via the government VFS Global portal before departure, with a base government fee of USD 75 and approval typically within 24-72 hours. The eVisa is generally issued as a single-entry permit valid for a short stay (commonly described as up to 30 days, with the document valid for 90 days from issue). A yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory and strictly enforced. eVisa holders must enter through Malabo International Airport. Only a handful of nationalities (Barbados, Tunisia, Turkey, UAE) are visa-exempt or eligible for visa-on-arrival, and Canada is not among them. Equatorial Guinea is in Central Africa and is not part of the Schengen area, so Schengen/ETIAS rules do not apply. Travelers should apply about 7-10 days before departure to allow for document checks.
