Do Canada passport holders need a visa to visit GL?

Canadian ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa to visit Greenland for tourism. They can enter visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. As of May 2026, Canadian citizens holding an ordinary passport can travel to Greenland for tourism without a visa for short stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Greenland is an autonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark but is NOT part of the European Union or the Schengen Area, so a Schengen visa is neither required nor valid for entry to Greenland. The forthcoming EU ETIAS travel authorization does NOT apply to Greenland itself. However, this is a major practical caveat: nearly all flights to Greenland connect through Copenhagen, Denmark (a Schengen country), and from late 2026 Canadians will need an ETIAS authorization to transit or enter Denmark/Schengen. Importantly, time spent in Greenland and the Faroe Islands counts together with Schengen toward the combined 90-day allowance. Passports must be valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended departure date from Greenland. Stays beyond 90 days require a residence permit applied for before arrival.
