Do Canada passport holders need a visa to visit DO?
Canadian passport holders do not need a visa for tourism in the Dominican Republic. You may enter visa-free for up to 30 days (extendable to 120 days). You must complete the free online E-Ticket migration form before arrival, and the mandatory US$10 tourist card is bundled into your airfare for air arrivals. Canada is on the Dominican Republic's visa-waiver list, so Canadian ordinary passport holders can travel to the DR for tourism without any visa for stays of up to 30 days, which can be extended up to 120 days by applying at the Dirección General de Migración before the tourist card expires. There is no traditional visa to apply for. Two requirements still apply to every traveler: (1) the mandatory free electronic E-Ticket (entry/exit migration, customs and health declaration) submitted online at eticket.migracion.gob.do, which generates a QR code for entry and exit; and (2) the US$10 tourist card, which since 2018 is automatically included in the price of air tickets for travelers arriving by air (those arriving by sea/land pay it separately). As an exceptional measure through December 31, 2026, Canadians may enter with a passport valid only for the duration of their stay; after that date the standard six-months-beyond-arrival validity applies. The Dominican Republic is not in the Schengen area, so the 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply.
