Do Canada passport holders need a visa to visit AZ?
Canadian passport holders need an e-visa (ASAN Visa) before traveling to Azerbaijan for tourism. It is obtained fully online, costs USD 25 plus a USD 5 service fee for standard processing (3 working days), and allows a single entry with a stay of up to 30 days. Canada is not on Azerbaijan's visa-free list. Canadian ordinary-passport tourists must obtain an electronic visa through the official ASAN Visa portal (evisa.gov.az) prior to arrival. There is no visa-on-arrival channel for Canadian citizens at any airport or land border. The e-visa is single-entry, permits a stay of up to 30 days, and is valid for entry within 90 days of issuance. Standard processing costs USD 25 plus a mandatory USD 5 service fee and takes up to 3 working days; urgent processing costs USD 60 plus the USD 5 service fee and is issued within about 3 hours. The passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond the visa's expiry (the Government of Canada recommends 6 months beyond arrival) with at least 2 blank pages. Travelers staying more than 15 days must register with the State Migration Service within 15 calendar days of arrival. Azerbaijan is not in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. Holders of Canadian travel documents (non-passports) are not eligible for the e-visa.
