Do Brazil passport holders need a visa to visit UG?
Brazilian ordinary passport holders need a visa for Uganda and must obtain a tourist eVisa online before travel. There is no standard visa on arrival. The single-entry tourist eVisa costs USD 50 and allows a stay of up to 90 days. A yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory. Uganda is not visa-free for Brazil and is not part of any visa-waiver arrangement with Brazil. Since 1 July 2016, Uganda abolished routine visa on arrival: all "visa-prone" nationals, including Brazilians, must apply online for an electronic visa (eVisa) through the official government portal (visas.immigration.go.ug) and travel with a printed Visa Approval Letter. The standard tourist eVisa is single entry, costs USD 50 (plus a small bank/processing charge), and permits a stay of up to 90 days within a 3-month authorization validity. Applicants must hold a passport valid at least 6 months, and a yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory for entry. Processing typically takes a few business days (commonly up to 6 days); travelers should apply at least 1-2 weeks before departure. Note a brief 2024 portal outage temporarily allowed visa on arrival, but the system is operational again and online application is the standard requirement. Travelers visiting more than one East African country may instead consider the East African Tourist Visa (USD 100, valid for Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda). Only the official portal should be used; many third-party sites overcharge.
