Do Brazil passport holders need a visa to visit SO?
Brazilian ordinary passport holders need an eVisa (eTAS) to visit Somalia. Since 1 September 2025 it is mandatory for nearly all foreign nationals and must be obtained online before travel at the official portal (evisa.gov.so / etas.gov.so). There is no visa-free or standard visa-on-arrival channel for Brazilian tourists. As of 31 May 2026, a Brazil ordinary passport holder traveling to Somalia for tourism or a short visit must obtain a Somalia eVisa under the eTAS (electronic Travel Authorization System) introduced by the Federal Government of Somalia and made mandatory on 1 September 2025. The eTAS replaced the older paper and on-arrival processes; Brazil falls into the large group of nationalities (roughly 190) that must apply online before departure. The single-entry tourist eVisa costs about USD 65, is valid for 90 days from issue to enter, and permits a stay of up to 30 days (extendable in-country). Standard processing is typically 3-7 working days. Applicants need a passport valid for at least six months, a digital passport photo, payment by international card, and in most cases an invitation/sponsor letter from a licensed Somali tour agency or registered business. The approved eVisa arrives by email and must be presented on arrival. Somalia is not part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. Travelers should also note Somalia carries significant security and travel advisories; this guide addresses only the immigration formality. Always confirm current details on the official portal close to the travel date.
