Do Brazil passport holders need a visa to visit NC?
No visa needed. Brazilian ordinary passport holders can visit New Caledonia visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. New Caledonia (Nouvelle-Caledonie) is a French overseas collectivity (collectivite sui generis) in the South Pacific. It is part of the French Republic but is NOT in the Schengen Area, so Schengen visas and ETIAS do not apply here; instead it runs its own visa policy aligned with the French overseas-territories regime. Brazil holds a long-standing visa-waiver relationship with France, and Brazilian ordinary passport holders are on the visa-exempt list for short stays in New Caledonia. They may enter for tourism without a visa for up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period. No application, fee, or pre-travel authorization is required for the stay itself. Travelers must still satisfy standard entry conditions at the border: a passport issued within the last 10 years and valid at least 3 months beyond the planned departure date (with at least two blank pages), proof of onward/return travel, evidence of sufficient funds for the stay, accommodation details, and travel/medical insurance, which is mandatory for entry to New Caledonia. Note the June 2025 France-Brazil agreement specifically eased entry to French Guiana; New Caledonia exemption is separate and already in force. As always, confirm via the France-Visas wizard or the French consulate before travel, since policies can change.
