Do Brazil passport holders need a visa to visit MW?

Brazilian ordinary passport holders need a visa for Malawi. The recommended route is the official Malawi eVisa (single-entry tourist visa, US$50), applied for in advance at evisa.gov.mw. Brazil lost visa-free access when Malawi revoked its broad visa-waiver scheme in January 2026. Until late 2024 Malawi waived visas for many nationalities, but effective 2 January 2026 the government revoked that broad waiver scheme. Brazil is NOT on the remaining short visa-exempt list, so Brazilian (BR) ordinary passport holders now require a visa for tourism. Malawi runs an official electronic visa system at evisa.gov.mw and explicitly prefers that all travelers obtain their visa in advance online; visa-on-arrival was reinstated for eligible-category travelers from 24 February 2026, but it is treated as a fallback rather than the recommended channel and carries the risk of queues or refusal. For a short tourist visit the appropriate product is the single-entry visa, which costs US$50, is valid for three months from the date of issue, and is used once on entry. Multiple-entry options (6 months US$150; 12 months US$250) exist for frequent travelers. Standard online processing is roughly 3 working days. Travelers should carry a passport valid at least 6 months with blank pages, proof of onward travel, accommodation details, and the printed eVisa approval. Because policy is in active flux (two changes in early 2026), travelers should reconfirm on evisa.gov.mw shortly before departure.
