Do Brazil passport holders need a visa to visit MR?
Brazilian ordinary passport holders need an e-Visa to enter Mauritania for tourism. Since 5 January 2025, an online e-Visa (via the official ANRPTS portal) is mandatory before boarding, and the old visa-on-arrival is no longer offered. A Brazil ordinary (tourist) passport does not grant visa-free entry to Mauritania. Only Brazilian diplomatic and service passport holders are exempt; ordinary passport holders must obtain a visa. Since 5 January 2025, Mauritania requires all visa-required nationals to apply for an e-Visa online through the National Agency for the Population Register and Secure Titles (ANRPTS) before travelling, and as of mid-2025 embassies no longer issue stickers, redirecting applicants to the e-Visa platform. The previous visa-on-arrival at Nouakchott-Oumtounsy International Airport and land borders has been discontinued, though the visa fee is still collected in cash on arrival. The standard tourist e-Visa allows a 30-day stay (90-, 360- and 720-day options also exist) and the fee is EUR 55 / USD 60. Travellers must hold a passport valid for at least six months and present a printed e-Visa with QR code on arrival. Mauritania is in West/North Africa and is not part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply.
