Do Brazil passport holders need a visa to visit LV?
Brazilian ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for tourism in Latvia. As an EU/Schengen state, Latvia admits Brazilians visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. ETIAS is not yet required (launch expected Q4 2026). Latvia is a member of the European Union and the Schengen Area. Under the long-standing EU-Brazil short-stay visa-waiver agreement, holders of an ordinary Brazilian passport may enter Latvia and the wider Schengen Area without a visa for tourism, business or family visits for up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period. This is confirmed directly by the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which lists Brazil among visa-exempt nationalities and notes that travellers must hold valid travel health insurance covering medical care and repatriation in Latvia. No visa or pre-arrival authorisation is currently required as of 31 May 2026. The key upcoming change is ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System): the European Commission has confirmed a Q4 2026 launch (around October-November 2026) with a fee of EUR 20, valid for three years and multiple entries. Once operational and after a transitional grace period (expected into 2027), visa-exempt Brazilians will need an approved ETIAS before boarding to the Schengen Area. The separate Entry/Exit System (EES) is also rolling out and will register biometric data at the border but does not require pre-application. Travellers should carry a passport valid for at least three months beyond the intended departure date and issued within the previous 10 years, plus proof of onward travel, accommodation, funds and health insurance.
