Brazilian ordinary passport holders need a visa for Burundi. The recommended route is the official eVisa applied online at migration.gov.bi before travel; a 1-month entry visa costs USD 90. Visa on arrival at Bujumbura airport is also available, but pre-applying online is safer. A yellow fever vaccination certificate and a passport valid for at least 6 months are mandatory. A Brazil ordinary passport holder is not visa-exempt for Burundi (only DR Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda enjoy visa-free access). Burundi's immigration authority, the Commissariat General des Migrations (CGM), operates an official online visa portal at migration.gov.bi, which is open to all nationalities including Brazil. The standard tourist option is a single-entry visa valid for one month at USD 90; a multiple-entry visa (one month, renewable up to twice, totalling up to 90 days) is also USD 90, and longer/multi-month options range up to roughly USD 270. The same USD 90 fee can also be paid in cash on arrival at Bujumbura (Melchior Ndadaye) International Airport, but Burundi requires travellers to complete the online entry-visa application and obtain a validation certificate before arriving, so applying online (the eVisa channel) is both required and recommended. Mandatory entry conditions include a passport valid for at least 6 months with one blank page, a yellow fever vaccination certificate (lifetime validity per WHO rules), and proof of onward travel. Diplomatic, official and service passport holders from Brazil are exempt for up to 30 days, but this does not apply to ordinary tourists. Sources are consistent as of 31 May 2026 that there is no visa waiver for ordinary Brazilian passports and that the online/eVisa system is the primary modern channel.
