Do Brazil passport holders need a visa to visit BG?

No visa needed. As of 30 May 2026, Brazilian ordinary passport holders can enter Bulgaria visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days within any 180-day period, because Brazil is a Schengen visa-exempt nationality (EU Regulation 2018/1806, Annex II) and Bulgaria became a full Schengen member on 1 January 2025. Bulgaria is part of the Schengen Area (full member since 1 January 2025, when internal land-border checks with Romania were lifted). Brazil is on the EU list of visa-exempt third countries, so Brazilian ordinary passport holders do not need a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa for tourism. The stay is capped at 90 days within any rolling 180-day period, counted across the ENTIRE Schengen Area, not Bulgaria alone. You must carry a passport valid for at least 3 months beyond your intended departure and issued within the last 10 years, and be prepared to show proof of accommodation, return/onward travel, sufficient funds, and travel medical insurance. A new requirement is approaching: the EU's ETIAS travel authorisation (a quick online application, expected fee around EUR 20, valid 3 years) is targeted to become operational in the last quarter of 2026, after the Entry/Exit System (EES) rollout. As of 30 May 2026, ETIAS is NOT yet mandatory, so no pre-travel authorisation is required today; travellers should check the official EU travel-europe portal close to their trip in case ETIAS goes live during a transitional period. Anyone intending to work, study long-term, or stay beyond 90 days needs the appropriate national long-stay visa or residence permit instead.
