Brazilian ordinary passport holders need a visa for Afghanistan, but since March 2026 they can obtain a single-entry tourist e-Visa online through the official E-Afghans portal. It allows a 30-day stay, is valid 90 days from issue, and currently permits entry only via Kabul International Airport. Afghanistan is not a visa-free or visa-on-arrival destination for Brazilian citizens, and there is no Afghan embassy or consulate in Brazil (Brazil falls under the jurisdiction of Afghanistan's mission accredited in Washington, D.C.). On 11 March 2026 the de facto Afghan authorities launched an online electronic visa (e-Visa) system via the official E-Afghans portal (eafghans.com), making this the most practical route for Brazilians, who no longer need to travel to a third-country embassy in Dubai, Islamabad or Doha. The e-Visa is open to nationals of nearly every country (only residents of Israel are excluded). It is currently issued as a single-entry tourist visa permitting a maximum stay of 30 days, valid for entry within 90 days of issue, and at present is accepted only at Kabul International Airport (HIA) — not at land borders or other airports. The application fee is USD 8, with a visa fee of roughly USD 120 paid after approval, for a total near USD 128. Standard processing is typically 1-3 weeks, with same-day express options reported. Passports must be valid at least six months. Afghanistan is NOT in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. Travelers should also be aware that Brazil and most governments advise against all travel to Afghanistan due to security conditions; verify the latest entry rules before booking, as the e-Visa system is new and policies can change.
