Do Australia passport holders need a visa to visit UG?
Australian ordinary passport holders need an eVisa to enter Uganda for tourism. There is no visa-free entry and no visa on arrival (abolished in 2016). You must apply online at the official portal before travelling, and carry a yellow fever vaccination certificate. A holder of an ordinary Australian passport requires a visa to visit Uganda for tourism, and that visa must be obtained electronically (eVisa) before departure. Uganda discontinued visa-on-arrival in July 2016; all "visa-prone" travellers, including Australians, must use the official online system at visas.immigration.go.ug. The standard product for a short tourist stay is the Ordinary (Tourist) Single-Entry Visa, costing USD 50, valid for entry within 90 days of approval and allowing a stay of up to 90 days at the immigration officer's discretion. Travellers visiting Uganda together with Kenya and Rwanda may instead choose the East Africa Tourist Visa (multiple entry across the three states) for USD 100. A yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory for entry. Processing is typically 2-3 business days; the immigration authority advises applying at least 5 days before departure. Beware of unofficial third-party sites that charge inflated fees (USD 90-200); the correct government fee is USD 50. Uganda is in East Africa and is not part of the Schengen area, so Schengen and ETIAS rules do not apply.
