Do Australia passport holders need a visa to visit KG?
Australian ordinary passport holders can visit Kyrgyzstan visa-free for up to 30 days within any 60-day period. No visa, e-visa or fee is required for short tourist stays under current rules (effective 31 December 2025). Australia is on Kyrgyzstan's visa-free list. Following Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 855, which took effect on 31 December 2025, Australian citizens (along with nationals of around 55 other countries) may enter Kyrgyzstan without a visa for up to 30 days within any 60-day period for tourism or business. This replaced the previous, more generous allowance of 60 days within a 120-day period. No visa application, e-visa, or visa-on-arrival is needed for stays within this window. Travelers should carry a passport valid for at least 6 months, and some official guidance advises being able to show a return/onward ticket and accommodation details on entry. Australian nationals are generally exempt from local police registration for short visits. Stays longer than 30 days, or other purposes such as work or study, require an e-visa (via the official portal evisa.e-gov.kg) or a consular visa. Kyrgyzstan is not part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply.
