Australian ordinary passport holders need a visa for Côte d'Ivoire and must obtain it online before travel through the official SNEDAI e-visa portal. The e-visa requires a pre-enrolment (application, document upload and payment of EUR 73) completed at least 48 hours before departure; the biometric visa is then finalised on arrival at Abidjan's Félix-Houphouët-Boigny International Airport. It permits a stay of up to 90 days. Australia is not on Côte d'Ivoire's visa-exemption list (which is limited mainly to ECOWAS and selected African and Maghreb states), so Australian travellers require a visa. Côte d'Ivoire operates an electronic visa scheme administered by SNEDAI at snedai.com/e-visa. Travellers complete an online pre-enrolment, upload their passport, return flight reservation and proof of accommodation or invitation letter, and pay the EUR 73 fee at least 48 hours before departure. After approval they receive a pre-enrolment confirmation to present at boarding; on landing at Abidjan's Félix-Houphouët-Boigny (Port-Bouët) International Airport the visa is finalised with fingerprint biometrics and affixed to the passport. The e-visa is valid for entry within 3 months of issue and allows a stay of up to 90 days. The airport e-visa channel is only valid for arrivals by air at Abidjan; travellers arriving by land or sea, or those needing visa categories not offered online, must apply at an Ivorian embassy/consulate. Passports must be valid at least 6 months and a yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory for all travellers. Côte d'Ivoire is in West Africa and is not part of the Schengen area, so Schengen/ETIAS rules do not apply.
