No visa required. Australian ordinary passport holders can enter Botswana visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days within any 12-month period. Australia is on Botswana's visa-exempt list, so an Australian ordinary passport holder does not need a visa for a short tourist visit. You may stay up to 90 days in total within a rolling 12-month period, granted free of charge on arrival via a passport stamp. Botswana's eVisa portal (evisa.gov.bw) exists only for nationalities that DO require a visa, so Australians do not apply for or pay for any visa in advance. To board and enter, carry a passport valid for at least six months with three or more blank pages, evidence of onward/return travel and accommodation, and sufficient funds. A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required only if you are arriving from or transiting a country with yellow fever transmission risk. Travelers using a temporary/emergency passport are NOT covered by the waiver and must obtain a visa first. The exact number of days is set by the immigration officer at the stamp and may be fewer than 90; extensions can be requested at an immigration office before your authorized stay expires.
