奥地利(Austria) 前往 朝鲜(North Korea) 签证要求

Austrian passport holders need a visa for North Korea (DPRK). There is no visa-free, eVisa, or visa-on-arrival channel: a DPRK tourist visa (tourist card) can only be arranged through a state-authorized tour operator. Crucially, as of mid-2026 the DPRK remains closed to general Western/European tourism, so travel by Austrian citizens is effectively not possible regardless of visa status. An Austrian (AT) ordinary passport holder requires a visa to enter North Korea (KP) for tourism. North Korea is not part of the Schengen area, so no 90/180 short-stay rule or ETIAS applies. Independent travel and self-applied visas are not permitted; a tourist visa must be arranged by a DPRK-authorized tour operator (e.g. Koryo Tours, Young Pioneer Tours, Lupine Travel) working through the Korea International Travel Company (KITC). The visa is normally issued as a separate tourist card rather than a passport sticker, and is handed over in Beijing (airport or Beijing-Pyongyang train) or, in some cases, as a sticker via a DPRK embassy. The visa fee is typically bundled into the all-inclusive tour package (packages from roughly USD 1,000-1,500 for a short group tour). Applications should be lodged 4-8 weeks in advance. Importantly, as of June 2026 North Korea has not reopened to general international tourism: only Russian nationals are currently permitted under bilateral arrangements, and tourist visas for Western/European citizens are not being issued. The Rason zone briefly reopened in February 2025 but closed again in March 2025, and the 2026 Pyongyang Marathon was cancelled. Austrians should also note that any visit to North Korea voids US ESTA eligibility, requiring a US visa for future US travel, and that Air Koryo does not meet EU aviation safety standards. Travelers should default to treating this route as visa-required and currently impractical until official reopening is confirmed.
