奥地利(Austria) 前往 伊朗(Iran) 签证要求

Austrian ordinary passport holders need a visa for Iran. The practical route is Iran's official e-visa: apply online for a visa authorization (grant) code in advance, then collect the visa sticker at an Iranian consulate or at the airport on arrival. There is no genuine visa-free or unconditional visa-on-arrival access for Austrians. A short tourist trip to Iran requires an Iranian visa for Austrian (EU) citizens; Iran is not in the Schengen area, so the 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. The standard channel is the e-visa system operated by Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (evisatraveller.mfa.ir): the traveler submits an online application, supporting documents and a resume file, and receives a visa grant notice (authorization code) by email, typically within about 2 weeks. With this code the visa is issued either at an Iranian consulate (cheaper) or at the airport visa desk on arrival; the so-called "visa on arrival" still requires the pre-issued authorization code, so it is not a true VOA. Following Iran's August/September 2025 tightening and the October 2025 partial rollback, Austrians can again travel relatively independently, but must apply through a registered Iranian travel agency, provide an itinerary and stay only in officially registered accommodation. Critically, evidence of travel to Israel (an Israeli stamp or visit within roughly the past year) leads to refusal of entry. Passport validity of at least 6 months beyond the stay and proof of onward travel are required. Standard tourist visa allows a stay of up to 30 days, extendable inside Iran. Because requirements are conditional and changeable, this route is firmly visa-required, with the e-visa being the recommended application method.

Can Austrians get a visa on arrival in Iran?
Only with a pre-issued visa grant notice (authorization code) obtained online beforehand. Without that code airlines will not board you, so it is effectively an e-visa rather than a true visa on arrival.
