Do UAE passport holders need a visa to visit SD?

United Arab Emirates ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for Sudan. Emiratis are on Sudan's short list of visa-exempt nationalities and may enter and stay without obtaining a visa in advance or on arrival. As of 31 May 2026, citizens of the United Arab Emirates holding an ordinary passport are visa-exempt for Sudan. Sudan maintains a very short visa-waiver list (Egypt, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates with indefinite stay; Qatar for 1 month; Yemen for 30 days), reflecting Arab League / GCC reciprocity arrangements. Emirati nationals are therefore permitted to enter Sudan without a tourist visa, an eVisa, or a visa on arrival. The practical requirements are a passport valid for at least six months beyond the intended stay and, in practice, evidence of onward or return travel and a local contact/address. IMPORTANT SAFETY CONTEXT: Sudan has been in an active armed conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) since April 2023. Khartoum International Airport and much of the country have seen heavy fighting; many embassies have suspended operations and most governments advise against all travel to Sudan. So while the legal entry verdict is visa-free, real-world travel is severely disrupted: scheduled commercial flights are limited, immigration processing at functioning entry points (e.g. Port Sudan) can be ad hoc, and border posts may demand additional documentation, registration with police within 3 days of arrival, and exit/travel permits for movement inside the country. Travelers should confirm the current situation with the nearest Sudanese diplomatic mission and their own foreign ministry before departure, as policies and the security picture can change rapidly.
