Do UAE passport holders need a visa to visit NP?
UAE ordinary passport holders get a Nepal tourist visa on arrival (VOA) at Tribhuvan International Airport (Kathmandu) and most land borders. UAE is not on Nepal's restricted list, so no advance visa is needed for a short tourist visit. As of 2026-05-31, a United Arab Emirates ordinary passport holder traveling to Nepal for tourism is eligible for a visa on arrival (VOA). Nepal grants VOA to nationals of nearly all countries; only citizens of 13 restricted nations (Afghanistan, Cameroon, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Ghana, Iran, Iraq, Liberia, Nigeria, Palestine, Somalia, Syria, Zimbabwe) must obtain a visa in advance from a Nepali diplomatic mission. The UAE is NOT on this list, so an Emirati traveler can simply arrive at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport (or an authorized land border) and obtain the tourist visa on the spot. Tourist visas are issued for 15, 30, or 90 days, multiple entry, with fees payable in USD (USD 30 / 50 / 125). Travelers need a passport valid for at least six months, a passport photo (or use the airport kiosk), the fee in USD cash, and a completed arrival form (can be pre-filled online to save time). Visas can be extended in-country at the Department of Immigration up to 150 days per calendar year. While the Nepal Embassy in Abu Dhabi can also issue a tourist visa before travel, this is optional for UAE nationals; VOA is the standard, fastest route. Note: UAE residents who are NOT Emirati citizens (e.g. holders of a restricted-country passport residing in the UAE) should check their own nationality against the restricted list, as eligibility depends on passport nationality, not residence.
