Do UAE passport holders need a visa to visit MD?
UAE ordinary passport holders can enter Moldova visa-free for tourism or short business visits, staying up to 90 days within any 180-day period. No visa or eVisa is required in advance. Holders of ordinary United Arab Emirates passports do not need a visa to visit Moldova for tourism or short stays. UAE nationals have appeared on Moldova's unilateral visa-free list since 24 March 2017, and this was reinforced by the Moldova-UAE Memorandum of Understanding on the mutual abolition of the visa regime, signed 4 August 2025 and in force from 4 September 2025, which grants reciprocal 90-day visa-free travel for ordinary passport holders. The permitted stay is up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Moldova is NOT part of the Schengen Area and operates its own independent visa policy, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do NOT apply to a Moldova visit (a separate count applies). Travelers should hold a passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended departure date and be prepared to show proof of accommodation, sufficient funds, onward/return tickets, and travel medical insurance (recommended minimum EUR 30,000 coverage) at the border. Stays beyond 90 days, or for work, study, or residence, require an appropriate visa or residence permit obtained in advance through Moldova's authorities (e-Visa portal evisa.gov.md for visa-required categories).
