🇿🇦South Africa🇻🇪VenezuelaZA-VE South Africa to Venezuela visa requirements
South African ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for tourism in Venezuela. You may enter visa-free for up to 90 days using a tourist card (DEX-2 / Tarjeta de Ingreso) issued at no cost by the airline or on arrival. Venezuela grants visa-free entry to South African ordinary passport holders for tourism and short visits of up to 90 days. South Africa is on Venezuela's list of visa-exempt nationalities, and the stay can be extended once for a further 90 days at a local immigration (SAIME) office. On arrival, travelers receive a tourist card (DEX-2 / Tarjeta de Ingreso), which is normally provided free of charge by the air carrier before boarding or at the port of entry. There is no tourist visa fee for South Africans entering this way. Requirements are a passport valid at least 6 months, proof of onward/return travel, evidence of sufficient funds, and accommodation details; travel medical insurance is strongly recommended. Venezuela is in South America and is NOT part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. Note that a separate eVisa/consular tourist visa process (with a roughly USD 40 consular fee and 10-15 day processing) does exist and is sometimes cited by commercial visa services, but it is not required for ordinary South African tourists, who are covered by the visa exemption. Given Venezuela's economic and political volatility, entry conditions and on-the-ground requirements can change at short notice, so reconfirm with the Venezuelan Embassy in Pretoria and your airline shortly before travel.
