South Africa to Turkmenistan visa requirements

South African ordinary passport holders need a visa to visit Turkmenistan. There is no visa-free or functioning eVisa channel; you must first obtain a Letter of Invitation (LOI) certified by Turkmenistan's State Migration Service, then apply at a Turkmen embassy/consulate or collect a visa on arrival at Ashgabat airport. As of 30 May 2026, Turkmenistan is not visa-free for any ordinary passport holders, including South Africans, and is not part of the Schengen area.
