South Africa to Cambodia visa requirements

South African ordinary passport holders need a visa for Cambodia. The recommended option for a short tourist visit is the official Cambodia eVisa (Type T), obtained online before travel, costing USD 30 (government fee) for a single entry, 30-day stay. South Africa is not on Cambodia's visa-exemption list, so a visa is required for tourism. The most convenient and recommended route is the official Cambodian eVisa (tourist Type T) issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation at evisa.gov.kh. As of 1 January 2025 the government fee was reduced to USD 30 (from USD 36). The eVisa is single entry, permits a stay of up to 30 days, and is valid for entry within 3 months of issue. Standard processing is about 3 business days. A traditional Visa on Arrival (USD 30) is also available at Cambodia's main international airports and several land borders, and an embassy visa is an alternative, but the eVisa is the simplest pre-travel option. Note the eVisa can only be used to enter at seven designated checkpoints (Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville international airports, plus the main land borders with Thailand, Vietnam and Laos); if entering elsewhere, use Visa on Arrival instead. Cambodia is not in the Schengen area, so the 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply.

Frequently asked

Can South Africans get a visa on arrival in Cambodia?
Yes. A Visa on Arrival (USD 30, single entry, 30 days) is available at Cambodia's main international airports and several land borders. However, the official eVisa obtained in advance is recommended because it avoids border queues and works only at the same major checkpoints.
