South Africa to Indonesia visa requirements

South African ordinary passport holders need a Visa on Arrival (VOA / e-VOA) for tourism in Indonesia. It costs IDR 500,000, allows a 30-day stay, and can be extended once for another 30 days. As of 30 May 2026, South African ordinary passport holders are NOT visa-exempt for Indonesia and must obtain a Visa on Arrival (VOA) for tourism. The standard option is the IDR 500,000 single-entry visa granting a 30-day stay, extendable once for a further 30 days at a local immigration office. You can buy it on landing at major airports/seaports (cash or card) or, recommended, apply online beforehand for the Electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA) via the official portal evisa.imigrasi.go.id to skip the payment queue and use the automated e-gates with a biometric passport. A mutual visa-free agreement between Indonesia and South Africa was announced on 21 November 2025, but it has not yet been written into Indonesian immigration regulations or activated in border systems, so the VOA remains the documented, enforced pathway. Travellers should also complete the mandatory electronic customs declaration and the digital arrival card (All Indonesia / Molina), carry proof of onward travel, and ensure their passport is valid at least six months with two blank pages.
