🇿🇦South Africa🇭🇰Hong Kong (SAR China)ZA-HK South Africa to Hong Kong (SAR China) visa requirements
South African ordinary passport holders can visit Hong Kong visa-free for up to 30 days for tourism. No visa or entry permit is needed in advance. As of 30 May 2026, holders of an ordinary South African passport may enter the Hong Kong SAR visa-free for tourism and short visits, staying up to 30 days. No advance visa, eVisa, or entry permit is required. Travelers simply present a valid passport at immigration along with proof of onward/return travel and adequate funds. The passport must be valid for more than one month beyond the intended stay (carriers and the Immigration Department generally recommend at least six months of validity). Visa-free visitors must not take up employment (paid or unpaid), establish or join any business, or enroll as students. If a longer stay or a different purpose (work, study, business establishment) is intended, a visa/entry permit must be obtained from the Hong Kong Immigration Department before arrival. Stays may be extended on a discretionary basis by applying to the Immigration Department when the remaining authorized period is within 14 days. Hong Kong is not part of the Schengen area, so Schengen/ETIAS rules do not apply.
