South Africa to Guyana visa requirements

South African ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa to visit Guyana for tourism. You may enter visa-free and stay up to 30 days. As of 30 May 2026, holders of an ordinary South African passport can travel to Guyana for tourism without a visa for stays of up to 30 days. This is confirmed by the High Commission of the Republic of Guyana in Pretoria and by Guyana's published visa policy. Guyana is located in South America (it is not part of the Schengen Area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply). On arrival you simply present a passport valid for at least six months with a blank page, proof of onward/return travel, evidence of sufficient funds and details of where you will stay; an immigration officer grants the entry stamp at the port of entry. Important health note: Guyana lies in a yellow fever transmission zone, and a valid International Certificate of Vaccination (yellow fever) is required for entry. Travelers should also complete Guyana's online embarkation/disembarkation form before arrival, as biometric processing was introduced at Cheddi Jagan International Airport in 2025. If you intend to stay longer than 30 days, work, study or do business, a visa or extension must be arranged separately through the Department of Immigration and Citizenship.
