South Africa to The Gambia visa requirements

South African ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for The Gambia. As Commonwealth citizens they may enter visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days. A valid passport and proof of Yellow Fever vaccination are required. The Gambia grants visa-free entry to citizens of full Commonwealth of Nations member states, and South Africa is a Commonwealth member. South African ordinary passport holders may therefore travel to The Gambia for tourism or a short visit without obtaining a visa in advance and without a visa-on-arrival, for stays not exceeding 90 days. The 90-day visa-free period can be extended for a further 90 days by applying in person at the Immigration Department headquarters in Banjul with a passport, photos, and a modest fee. There is no Schengen relevance — The Gambia is a West African ECOWAS state, not part of the Schengen area, so no ETIAS or 90/180 Schengen rule applies.
