South Africa to Cuba visa requirements

South African ordinary passport holders need a Cuban e-Visa before travel. Since 1 July 2025, the e-Visa replaced the old paper tourist card and is mandatory for tourists. Apply online at evisacuba.cu, then also complete the D'Viajeros arrival form within 7 days of arrival. Cuba requires a visa for South African ordinary passport holders, and as of 1 July 2025 this is issued as an electronic visa (e-Visa) that replaced the traditional green/pink tourist cards. South Africa is not on Cuba's short visa-exempt list, so SA travelers apply online through the official portal evisacuba.cu. The e-Visa is single entry, permits a stay of up to 90 days (extendable once in-country for a further 90 days, 180 total), and is generally valid for entry within a set window after issue. Government processing is typically up to 72 hours after confirmed payment. In addition to the e-Visa, every air traveler must submit the free D'Viajeros online form (health, customs and immigration declaration) within 7 days before arrival and link it to the e-Visa. Travelers should also carry proof of medical travel insurance (mandatory for entry), a passport valid at least six months, proof of accommodation and onward/return tickets. Cuba is not in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply.
