South Africa to Benin visa requirements

South African ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for Benin. As an African Union member state, South Africa benefits from Benin's open-door policy granting all African nationals visa-free entry for short visits of up to 90 days. A valid yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory for all arrivals. Benin is one of the most visa-open countries in Africa. Since adopting an open-border policy for the continent, Benin admits citizens of all African Union member states without a visa for stays of up to 90 days. South African ordinary passport holders therefore travel visa-free for tourism and short visits and do not need to apply for the Benin eVisa (which is intended for non-exempt, mostly non-African nationalities). At the border, travellers are admitted on presentation of a passport valid for at least six months, an onward/return ticket, and proof of yellow fever vaccination, which Benin enforces strictly for every arriving passenger over nine months of age. No eVisa fee applies to South Africans. Travellers should still carry evidence of accommodation and sufficient funds, as the final admission decision rests with the immigration officer. If you plan to stay longer than 90 days, work, or conduct certain business activities, a visa or residence permit through the Benin immigration authority (Direction de l'Emigration et de l'Immigration) is required.
